How to Fix Special Language Characters in Excel

If you have ever exported your contacts as a CSV file and opened it in Excel, you may have noticed that special language characters, such as accents or umlauts, can sometimes appear incorrectly. This can be frustrating, but luckily there is an easy fix.

Step 1: Open Excel and select “Blank Workbook

Step 2: Select “Data,” then select “From Text/CSV

Step 3: Locate your contacts export file, click “Import,” and click “Load

Step 4: Your contacts CSV export will appear like below with all special characters showing correctly

Step 8: Save Your File

Finally, save your file by clicking on the "File" menu and selecting "Save". Your special language characters should now be displayed correctly in Excel.
