If you're trying to use near field communication (NFC), make sure both you, and the person you are trying to share with, have the NFC option turned on in settings.

Go to settings, more..., and tick "NFC". If you are using a Samsung device, make sure that Android Beam is also enabled.

Please note, NFC and Android beam might appear in different areas of the settings depending on the phone you are using.
